Is this thing worth it? My kids have old deactivated iphones that they use like ipods for music & games & stuff, watching shows from the DVRs would be a plus for them to be able to do - at home & on road trips. How well does it do in this capacity?

Important.. They cant order a specific model of GenieGo. Whether you get the original or the GenieGo 2 is a matter of stock levels and Luck.
I think (correct me if I'm wrong), the GenieGo 2 can Stream to 2 different devices (phones etc..) at one time, while the original (Which I have) can only stream to one device at a time.
Also, and this is important.. You MUST have an HD-DVR (a Genie is an HD-DVR) and it MUST be connected to the internet. One more.. Not sure on the GenieGo 2, but I know the original model requires a WIFI network connection for out of home streaming, a 3G or 4G wont work.
