I have a fair amount of equipment and it is powered up (or down) via macros on the remote control(s). When we go into the media room we do one or two button pushes to bring up all the equipment and lighting. I always power cycle devices with VFD because they will lose their brightness over time. The IRD the microHD replaced had a nice VFD in it, unfortunately it would not lock the PBS transponders on AMC-21 even tho it was supposed to be a DVB-S2 receiver. I am looking into procuring the Amiko Alien2 and it appears to have a nice VFD in it.
