HD-Lite Class Action

I'll bet ya that if D* or E* both came and said openly that they were downrezzing that no one (the majority) would even care.

Why? Most are SD tv owners and secondly most HD owners are watching cheap ass HD sets that cant resolve anything higher then the downrezzed pic they are already recieveing. So they wouldnt know the diff....

Bottom line...HD-DVD/BD and OTA are the last, best and ONLY sabastians for TRUE HD...thats they way it is and it more than likly wont change.

PS Our only other hope are projects like FIOS/Lightspeed.

Why don't you drop the HD channels Dish offers you and go AT-60 or whatever is the min and you can still get the HD OTA with their box?

1. The answer is in my post, pay attention to what I've written if you haven't done so yet;

2. The decision on what to watch is based on my family's preferences, not on your or anybody else's advice.

Great, then I guess you are content in your decisions. I guess you are all set and do not need our help and you will no longer be bringing up HD-Lite. Have a great day!

No offense fohhorn2, but when he said that HD DVDs are a direct competitor to DISH HD you should have known you shouldn't pursue a conversation without hitting yourself in the head with a hammer first. :)

I sooo want FIOS to be a viable choice and bring competition. I just don't know when everyone agreed that Cable is Evil and TELCOS are our new savior.

Right, I guess the socialist telcos with all their taxes and rip-off schemes will be better than Dish Network when it comes to prices and quality! Just look at all the TV channels they provided us after telling the GOV to deregulate (in the mid-90's)them so they can offer us TV via DSL! What a joke.

Where's that hammer!

Yeah, I just cant wait for all those Soundstage live concerts that I see on Rave to appear on HD-DVD for $1 a disk.

And all the FOOD-HD programs mailed to me every day from Netfix for 2 dollars a month!

All so I can put the shows through an analyzer and oscilloscopes to make sure they are "true and pure HD".

HD-Lightweights are those who want pure speck max HD channels with less channels in the process. The lightweights refers to the fact that they are so fanatical about this, but too weak and lightweighted to quit Dish or Direct and go to cable to get exactly what they want instead they complain about it all day. Thus HD-Lightweights are officially what these people with these attributes shall be called :D

If you want to sugest what I should do with my choices, then pay the delta to get me out of my contract with Dish Network. Otherwise, it is none of your business what I do.

the sob really making money from Dish on each his post :(
I can't belive normal subsriber/member here will methodically put down other persons whus intention make HD channels better ( read restore back PQ ) for all HD subscribers
WTF ?

If you can't understand it as a business decision let me hit you with your own emotional based question.
I can't believe a normal subsriber/member here would methodically put down other persons with the intention to keep existing and additional HD channels for all HD subscribers.
WTF?

For those that don't understand how someone can support the temporary use of HD-Lite, let me pose a question to you and answer to yourself honestly.
Which would rile more subs up to the point of canceling DISH?
1) To learn that they are not getting every bit of resolution that HD has to offer
or
2) That in order to give every bit of resolution that HD has to offer they are turning 20 HD channels OFF

Yea I either must be getting compensated by DISH or I possess the ability of simple logic. ;)

hey, hey - not 20 but ten OFF - remember ? bring back 33% cut ;
then cut repetitives, combine channles, keep running "compelling content" channels !

As long as you believe the forum dwellers are the majority of DISH subs your conclusions will always be flawed. Not to mention, I like a good debate most that are content with how Charlie is handling the HD do not take part in those polls. The outspoken minority scew many polls.
I never claimed that any of the polls that I linked to are scientific or even representative of actual consumer opinion. It was simply offered in contrast to the 98% of people would be upset that was thrown out earlier.

If you have a better, impartial data set showing any kind of similar data, please share it.

Obviously DISH is gaining more subs from HD-Lite than losing them. That is what I mean about business decisions. If you can't admit that we have come to an impass.
We don't really know that, now do we? Unless you have access to internal Dish financial data.

Of course, it's probably a safe guess that most of those subscribers are ignorant about Dish's downrezzing.

Hey, if they're only taking advantage of the ill-informed, who cares? Right?

Evidently none of you that are so upset have left DISH, so this supports the contention that from a business decision HD-Lite it working. It is your weakest argument that everyone is being decieved and that they would all be upset if the ones in the know like yourself are content enough to stay what makes you think any other sub would have a different take.
Come on admit it... You love HD-Lite, that's why you are still my DISH brother. :D
Great argument.

Except, what makes you think I'm a Dish HD subscriber?

The fat lady has sung and the HD-Lightweights are loosing the argument that we willing subscribers to DishHD should loose channels for their (minority) benefit. :hatsoff:

Drum roll please!
Based on what? The tiny discussion that's going on here? Seems like a case of premature self-congratulation. (Although I'm not a doctor, so please consult with your physician.)

There are only 60 members on the HD-Lightwieghts StopHdlite website forum.

60 Members on the HD-Lightweights side in their eyes constitute a majority of Dish customers in their eyes
How does that follow? Look at the polls I linked to, or do a search on the AVS forum. There are a lot more than 60 people that would prefer true HD to higher amounts of compromised, redundant, and/or mediocre programming.

Again, if you have other data, please share it with us.

Here’s what I think of all of this.

Dish is currently in the process of testing how aggressively they can downrez the HD channels. They will go down to as low resolution as most of HD subscribers are going to accept. As long as people keep their HD packages Dish are happy.
Bingo.

If that were true, why do they both deny that they're doing it?
