HD Locals Channel

Quick question about HD locals. My locals are suppose to launch on DirecTV later this year. Will the locals also be converted to SD? I just want to know if the small SD boxes will get the locals or will all the SD boxes need to be upgraded to HD?

I know when they moved the locals that were on 72W over to 99 or 103 some were in SD but they required the MPEG4 receivers because some locals they did not do as SD

Dish does the same thing on EA. If the local is available in HD there is no SD counterpart

You will almost certainly need to upgrade to MPEG-4 capable boxes. All of the recent HD launches for new markets have been MPEG-4 only.

They'll probably give you some good deals on upgrades. Also, I'm pretty sure you don't have to add HD per-se. In the areas of the country where locals are MPEG-4 only they'll allow the box to downconvert everything so it fits correctly on your TV.
