HD PVR, Increasing the Hard Drive

Is there a way to increase the hard drive? Options and opinions?

first off, I do not believe it is possible for either services unit, but, it would be helpfull to tell us what unit we are talking about.. such as the Starchoice DSR530 or BEV 9200

I know a little about this from investigating how to do it with the 501/508/510 Dish Network Receivers.

Until the firmware will recognize a larger hard drive, you can install a larger one, but it will not increase your recording capability.

If they make a newer model with a larger hard drive, you would have to hack the receiver back to factory "virgin" firmware, then download the current. With the new firmware, it would see the new hard drive and would give you the additional hours of recording.
