I have a GI 920 without a module or card. Is it goo for anything? FTA?

DSR920? If it is, it's a 4DTV receiver and providing the battery is still good you can subscribe to programming with it. It is not a FTA receiver. 4DTV is probably the best value in satellite programming available. You do need a C-Band (big dish) to pick up the signals.
