Alright let me clarify! I did not remove any of the old set up. I’m probably the 30th person to attempt to get this working.

the “Separator”, sorry for my misuse of correct parts, was hooked up at some point.

I ran a dual line from the 42 switch to the LNB I have the LNB located on the wall behind the receiver. I then ran a single line from the 42 to the power inverter and then the power inverter to the H3

There was originally a single line ran from an older receiver that had just been brought in by someone else to try. So I cut the old single line and put new ends on them to be able to use it as my signal finder line. The connections on the single line were not good connections.

here is some photos of evrything inside.

This is the old receiver. Which at some point before me was playing free channels through it from the satellite.

This is the way it should be wired. Because you have two outputs on that LNP I think it probably is a DP Dual. View attachment 149087
Why is there 2 receiver outputs ? I had it set up from LNB to to 42 switch as shown then out of switch as shown and couldn’t get past the set up point that said “checking switch installation 6 minutes remaining”

You use a 42 switch to run 2 Hopper 3's, which is why there are 2 outputs

Don't concern yourself with the second output. That would be for a second Hopper 3. You might try this: Unplug the Hopper and disconnect the coax from it. Next, unplug the the power inserter for a few minutes. While you are spending that few minutes reconnect the coax at the Hopper. Now, go back to the power inserter and plug it back in. Next, plug the Hopper back in and let it boot up. Retry the Switch Check. It may or may not fix your issue but it's worth a few minutes trying.

Here’s some pictures of the LNB unfortunately it looks like all the information is under the bracket. There’s a P/N # though.

Okay I’ll give it a try and see why comes of it. Do I need both output signals or
Lines or can I only use one !

Another thing, if that is a DP Dual, it is looking at one satellite and the second output is for a second receiver. You might remove one of those outputs from the LNB to the 42 switch because it might be confusing the switch.

Right which was why I went ahead and replaced the end connectors on the single line that was ran from the LNB originally. Does it matter if I hook to one or the other ?

I see by the part number that is a DirectTV LNB. It may not matter. Because you had free channels on that other Dish receiver I'd say it will work.

He said in one post above that "it’s a single connection with two [outputs and] one eye cover". I have no clue what a DPH42 would do if connected up to only one DP dual (one satellite location).

It works just fine with one or more lnbs(or dishes) feeding the dho42. It is exactly the purpose of a dhp42. To make a non hybrid lnb compatible with a hooper for one or more lnbs feeding the switch.

Are we consensus that this Directv LNB will still work??? I plan on trying to grab a newer LNB anyways but just to get it set up for now.

do I need wifi connection in order to set up the switch section ?

That is either a 301 or a 311. In either case it's a standard definition single-tuner receiver and cannot use that separator. I don't know what that was doing in the mix. To confuse us?

No we are not. I think they are interchangeable with Dish's legacy dual LNBs. "Legacy" in DIsh parliance means the LNB used two different voltages to switch from left to right circular polarization. But I don't think DirecTV ever used bandstacking like the DP line of LNBs, which is what is required for that DPH42.

You will just have to buy a DishPro dual or single LNB to make that DPH42 switch work at all. If you want to get really fancy, you could get a hybrid LNB/switch assembly and try to hit 3 birds at once. I don't see how to do that with your big dish.

Appreciate the response, which LNB should I go for the. ??? Not a big deal to pick one up. From my understanding it’s basically impossible to hit more than one satellite with these dishes. Every set up I’ve ever seen has only been hitting 119° bird.
I appreciate everything guys, I really do!

Good catch, Bobby! As TheKrell said, that would act as a legacy Dish LNB, so it would not be compatible with the newer Dish Pro switches at all.

I can't zoom in far enough to read the model number (if it is shown at all on one of the stickers on top of the receiver) but that is either a 301 or a 311, as TheKrell said. If it is a 311, then it may still work for those free channels, if that is the correct Smart Card for the receiver shown in the picture. If it is a 301, then Dish no longer broadcasts in a format that it will support, so it should be taken to a recycler for proper disposal.

I found a DishPro dual here: DISH Network Dish Pro Dual LNB (ES0810) [ES0810] - $79.99 : The Satellite Shop, Satellite Dish Equipment - TV Programming $79? Forget that! I have a couple of duals I could ship you if you want to pay me postage.

I found a DishPro single here: Amazon product $68 used? Forget that!

Wow. I'm sitting on a gold mine. The cheapest I can find one of these is $40 at Ebay. What is this world coming to?
Hot damn I might have to take you up on that.
