HR 20's are way out of date and won't work with the current SWM dish set ups.

D* won't activate those as new either.

Correct me if I'm wrong, but didn't the OTA tuner work even if the box wasn't authorized? They had excellent gen 5 Zenith tuners in them.

Was that the HR20's or the one before it, the HR10's ?

The H/HR20s are the ones with the Zenith tuners and I think work without being authorized.

To add some clarity to the conversation, the HR20 and H20 require an active access card in order to use them for OTA viewing.
The H10 and HR10, on the other hand, do not require an active access card. They do require that an access card be inserted though.

If he has receivers newer than the HR20 like HR24, H24, H25, or Genie receivers like the HR44 and above they are worth selling if in new condition and not yet activated.

I have (2) HR20's & before I removed them from my account, I disco'd them from the dish.
After awhile & even now, while I could still watch DVR'd shows that had been recorded from satellite, none of my OTA recordings would play.
