I did a search but didn't find anything about this. Can a HR25 be used with an 18 inch dish or will it only work with an SWM dish?

HR25 does not exist. If you have an HR24 you can use the 18" but if you have an H25 that is SWM only and will not.
Thanks for the info. I am not sure where I got the R in the model number. I have the H24 which will work with an 18 inch dish as well as with the Winegard SK3005 non SWM automatic dish on my motor home. I wanted to make sure a friend with a motor home gets the right type of receiver when he upgrades to HD. I will tell him to avoid the H25.
He can install a SWM8 and the H25 will be compatible. You do know the 18' will not receive HD? Another company out there is making a SWM auto rooftop now too.

I have seen the Winegard instructions for using the SWM8 and while it doesn't look complicated except for having to run the extra cables into the coach, I am sure he is not going to want to mess with the SWM8. He is a non technical guy and it is easier to just get a compatible receiver. I won't be around to help until next fall when we meet up in AZ and he is planing to get the SK3005 soon. I do know the 18 inch dish is SD only. I dumped the 18 inch on the roof and got the SK3005 after I installed the new TV in place of the old CRT type and upgraded to HD. I still use an external 18 inch dish on the rare occasions when the SK3005 is blocked by trees or something and switch over to it in the receiver menu. He will do the same I think. Neither of us need the external dish often enough to justify the new tripod needed. I know some folks (I think you have posted about that on one of the RV forums) have used the older smaller oval dish by installing a new LNB, but again it isn't worthwhile for us to mess with it. By the way it is nice having you on the RV forums answering questions for the folks.
I had not seen this particular one .... the D* one would be the RFM 4100, but it doesn't say how much they are ...
