Several weeks ago, I made the following comment on this forum: "I couldn't care less about Transformers."

Last night, I found out that I was wrong, when I watched my brand new copy of Casino Royale, and found out that it was actually possible for me to care less about a movie than I do about Transformers. Don't get me wrong, the disc is technically wonderful - stunning picture quality, especially on the scenes when they're in the Bahamas. I just didn't get it as a movie. I don't see this guy as James Bond (Roger Moore or Pierce Brosnan for me, please), they spent too much time on poker and all of that "I love you" crap and not enough on action and the torture scene was just inhumane. I kept thinking "come on, this is James Bond - he still has like 1,000 girls to sleep with, there's no way this really happened to him." And where were all the cool James Bond gadgets? A microchip in his arm, a portable defibrillator and some blatant Sony product placement is the best they can come up with?

Someone please tell me if I'm missing something here, but I really did not care for this movie... of course, part of that could have been that I only half paid attention to the first half because I was on the Christmas party chat...

I liked it. I like a james bond that is human and can get hurt.
I laughed my ass off at the theater when I saw all the sony BD players.

Movie reviews should be in the review forum, but I agree with you. Not the best bond. Moore and Brosnan as Bond? No way. Connery all the way. I prefer Dalton over Brosnan any day. I would even take Lazenby over Brosnan.

Casino Royale was one of the first Bond books and the last of original fleming bond Novels. They will either have to go to Gardner's books or come up woth an original script.

I find Transformers the best comedy of the year. It actually looks better when you watch it the second time.
And Casino Royale the long overdue return of the Bond franchise to its roots. Perfectly executed.

Diogen.

No other Bond than Sean Connery.

Brosnan is second.
I can't stand this new guy. Weak, stumbling Bond? Wasted the Aston Martin??? How do you even get a car to tumble like that(except with special devices)? Such a waste of a fine car, deep sigh.:(

I realize this isn't exactly the right forum, but since my earlier comments could have been considered somewhat derogatory to HD-DVD and Transformers and were posted here, I thought I should come back and own up.... anyway, I'll try to watch both again before Christmas (won't have much time after) and maybe I'll change my mind...

My favorite part about the new bond is when his nuts are recovering, he's sitting in a backyard with his woman on the romantic interlude that is like 50x longer than it should be, and the poker guy walks up as if he parachuted into the backyard to have them enter the code... then just kinda walks off in the same direction he came from.

Right, because "$120M is a lot of money".... that was pretty funny.
