My wife wants movies copied to DVD so she can watch them on her portable DVD player. I did this regularly on my 622 but this is the first I've tried on the hopper. I tried copying the Sound of Music which is 3 hours. (about 2 hr 55 min more than I could take)

I set the inactivity time out to 5 hours and started recording. When I checked later I found I got just over 1/2 hour before the system message came one and started downloading updates. I tried again, after making sure the time out was still 5 hours, and got a little over 2 hours and it did it again. I've wasted 2 disks so far.

Any suggestions.

Just set the standby to Disabled and see if that works. I have a Hopper in my showroom that's on for 9 hours everyday and it never goes into standby.

The Hopper won't download the guide information or reboot if it is recording something. And, if you are watching, it will ask permission to download.
