Hello all,

I have an install question. I have a Directv slimline dish. When the house was built in '95, we had 1 cable ran directly into the living room, this is where I presently have an HD receiver hooked up. We also had another cable ran that goes from the outside of the house up in the attic. Before we had HD, we were able to have a small splitter hooked up so that whatever was playing in the living room could be watched in the bedrooms. Anyways, now that we upgraded to HD, we had a standard receiver hooked up to that line from the outside and removed the splitter so that it goes directly to one bedroom for the other receivers. My question is this - can I add an another receiver and somehow have it use the same line that the other standard receiver is using?

Two receivers can't use the same line. You need to run a second line from your dish. Also, if you add a DVR you'll need two lines run to it. The Slimline has 4 outputs.

If you got a SWiM setup you could in theory pull this off. 1 line from the dish to a power inserter, a line from that to DirecTV splitter then 2 lines out (one to each receiver).
