Is Dish in a fight with Scripps again?

My local Scripps station, WSFL 39 in Miami, is suddenly off Dish. I know Scripps and DIsh had a tussle in 2020, but I had not heard about a new dispute. This one would stink because this channel carries our local Florida Panthers games.

Thanks for any help you can give!

You are correct. Dish did drop WSFL last week. The rationale provided was because of the cost increase due to picking up the Panthers games.

Bad news, but at least I have an answer--thank you!
Here is the official Dish statement, if you are interested in it:

As of October 5, 2024, we regret to inform you that DISH no longer carries the local independent channel in your market. Despite our commitment to providing fair and reasonable pricing, demands from Scripps Media have presented significant challenges.

Scripps Media, the owner of this local channel, recently acquired the local media rights to air NHL Florida Panthers games. Unfortunately, they are now insisting on significantly higher fees for this channel, even though the channel's programming, including the NHL games, is available for free over-the-air in your market.

We understand the frustration this may cause, and we sincerely apologize for any inconvenience. In light of this situation, we want to offer a possible alternative viewing solution:

Alternative Viewing Solutions:

  • Over-the-Air Antenna: This independent local channel is still accessible for free over-the-air in your market. Consider using an antenna to continue enjoying the content.
  • Panthers+: You can also explore the Panthers+ App at panthersplus.tv to stream live NHL Florida Panthers games. This app provides an alternative way to catch your favorite team in action.

Yes, my guide shows that the channel is not available, but I receive it with my ota antenna. Now, channel 10, ABC, is also fighting with Dish, but the ota antenna will fix that, but I won't get a guide I guess, which I don't get now anyway. I don't get a guide for any locals except cbs and nbc.

Go Panthers
