Joey 4 just shuts off, then gives message, that Broadband Connection Lost

Error code 1305

  • Meaning
    • Broadband connection lost
  • Cause
    • Hopper is disconnected from internet or incorrectly connected. Router is not compatible with Hopper system
  • Recommended Resolution
    • Attempt a connectivity method that is different from the current method
    • If a router is not allowing Joeys to connect to a Hopper then the Hopper Internet Connector (HIC) is advised

I get this error rather often, on joey 4k when it says that I check h3 it connected to and it connect internet just fine. h3 is configure to provide internet to joey 4k. I dont entirely buy that error is "internet" related. if was why does video/satalite feed go out? and if it moca error why is moca signal fine? when the error msg goes away the video is back?

The weird thing about all this , is that it's only one Joey. If it was the Hopper3 and all Joey's doing this, saying this message on all , then I would say it was my ISP, but it's only with this Joey 4.0, and no other.

Since you have multiple Joeys, swap the one having problems with one that is not. If the problem stays with that Joey, then then it is likely that they Joey is bad and would need to be replaced. If the problem stays at the same location, then there is likely a problem with the wiring to that location.

I get this error on satellites channels h3 and joey 4k have been replace chasing solutions still happens I am convinced that generic error. The "Broadband Connection Lost" wth does it have to do with satellite channels? at one point I had both my h3 with out internet connection for month or more trying figure out a different issue, and still got that error on both joey4k one was attach to h3~A and other joey 4k was attach to h3~b this error is not always a "broadband connection lost issue" cause it happen at random when h3 never had broad broad "internet" connection in first place. I think this error message is used for both "Broadband Connection Lost" and Moca issue and maybe other errors too.

but when that issue pop up the moca connection working just fine so might not even be that I know for fact when moca losses connection I get "red" bar on my screen no picture till it back

lose of internet connection in no way effect a satellite channel from being "viewable" lose of Moca would, but i not losing Moca when I see that error. this been issue with dish "whole" home dvr system since day one. and hws system I had prior and different location again was 2 hws and 2 joeys one joey on per hws had those error and those hws and joey where never connect to internet whole time I had those

The broadband connection lost just means the Joey and hopper are no longer communication. Has nothing to do with internet as they are not the same thing. Definition of broadband: a high-capacity transmission technique using a wide range of frequencies, which enables a large number of messages to be communicated simultaneously.

Reasons for this error can include:
Bad cable, connector, hub or splitter
Bad hopper/hdd
Wifi connection to an incompatible wifi router
Bad software on hopper
-it is rare for the Joey itself to be the issue. But occasionally can be, especially if it's a Joey 1 or 2 where the heatsink has come off causing it to overheat.

My Joey 4, will shut off, and give me a message Broadband Connection Lost, and an error code 1305. I have called tech support, want know to what to do to prevent it from happening in the first place
Dish has been doing a number of updates the last few weeks to add streaming app capability to the Hoppers to make it also work like a streaming device like Tablo, Firetv, Apple tv and so on. You may have noticed that the home button now sends you to a streaming app gui first. Not sure if and when you may see other streaming service apps added or if you will be able to dl them. The Hoppers are taking the updates with no problem. But the joeys are taking longer to update and you get the access, errors and rebooting problems. It took a few hours to updating my Joey before it was working normal.

That maybe so but seeing I have literately had everything replaced from h3 to the joey to switch the hub and everything , threw 3 different router during this time and it never solved that problem and that is just at this house location. I not even including the NJ house and it setup. I am more incline it software bug that and dish needs better wording.

if joey stopped communicated with h3 that a MOCA issue it should say MOCA issue and like said when that happen the moca signal is fine according to link status, dish is obviously using this error for multiple error by reading that most people will assume the internet is the issue. As Most people see "broadband connection" as internet that what most isp use to call it after all
