Did a hard reset on the 622 (Through my wife on the phone) The noise from the hard drive (I think) could be heard real loud. In the past when it has reset it has been loud, but seems to be getting louder.

Reason for the reset was when she was watching the show was pixelating and out of sync.

So do you think the hard drive is going bad or the unit, or neither

Are you sure that it was the hard drive you were hearing? The loudest thing right after a front panel reset is the cooling fan spinning up full speed. If the cooling fan is making funny noises, it may not be operating properly, so you may want to keep an eye on your internal temperatures, as high temps can destroy the 622 very easily.
