Although select Best Buy stores started selling HD DVD players and discs as early as Friday, today, Tuesday, April 18, 2006 will be remembered as the official launch day of the HD DVD format in the US. The first player Toshiba HD-A1, and the first three HD DVD titles (Serenity, The Last Samurai and The Phantom of the Opera) are now available in Best Buy stores all over the country and via mail order from ValueElectronics.com and other on-line retailers. Wal-Mart, Sears, Costco, Tweeters and other retail stores are expected to offer HD DVD soon.

The Format War has begun!

All first generation electronics give me the willies. Although they are the best in technology, I will wait out for at least a 3rd/4th generation to arrive when prices will be under 200 bones :D
