Does anyone use those flat laptop fans to cool down STBs? do they work ?
its getting pretty hot outside its 105* F and my Pansat 9200 and Sonicview 8000 burn when touched even when turner off (not powered off)

Yes they'll work , but so far only one of mine really needs a fan. And it stays turned off a good part of the day. You can even rig one of those little cpu/computer fans up to blow across the top of a receiver-that works nicely too. I just put some long screws through a little piece of 1x1" wood to hold one up, makes a difference in the temps!

I have one on my Az Elite, powered from the USB port. It never got that hot anyway but it's barely warm now.

Monoprice.com has some great pricing on them.

openbox s10 processor gets to 122F+ when on and 106F in standby.
I put an old 486 cpu fan over the processor and it knocks the temp down to 85F but is noisy.
