The extreme slowness and rebooting have stopped. However, this release is still somewhat sluggish and buggy.
 
I have the same problem. Usually the joey will do it at night which is when I watch TV. The hopper will play fine while the joey pixellates but usually a reboot of the joey takes care of it for a while. This just started after the last update. I noticed the joey is faster but this is ridiculous.
