Liner LNBF on a Dish500

Very little point, 30" is around the minimum for linear FTA satellites.......

Plus with the LNBF being off set you would not even get the full advantage of reflector on the Dish 500.

Did try it with a DirecTV Phase III dish with the Linear LNBF in the main focal position.........

You mean "linear", Bill. The satellites using linear polarizations broadcast at lower power, thus a Dish 500 antenna is not big enough to receive them. To get the those satellites you would have to have a bigger dish (the size of a Superdish or bigger). The satellites you are refering to are called FSS satellites (Fixed Service Satellites). Their broadcasting at lower power and reception on larger dishes allows them to be spaced close together (two degrees).

Rotorized dish is best for free to air. That way can hit all the fta satellites across the sky.
