Hi
I have 3 dishes hooked up to a switch
2 of the dish are fixed no motor
1 has a stab I just installed.
Everything works fine I get 4 satellite on the dish with the stab dish and 1 satellite on the 1 fixed dish. 3rd dish not hooked up yet.

I do blind scan get everything no problem but when I switch between satellite I lose signal sometimes not all the time. If I do a blind scan again all channels are there.
It doesn't do it every time. Sometimes I can jump from satellite to satellite no problems...


Not sure what to check has new switch new lnb new stab motor new cable

I can use/watch I just have to rescan some satellites when I switch between them..

Any suggestions would be great..

And I'm a rookie at this been into FTA about 2 months. I was trying to find out what to do with an old orby dish found a guy happy satellite nerd on YouTube and here I am.

I'm sure I'm doing something wrong a setting not correct or something I missed

Where is the switch installed? Between the STB and the motor or after the motor?

What brand and model of switch?

What STB?

Here's the switch and the motor is a Stab brand receiver is a Amiko mini HD 265

The switch goes from main cable from receiver then to 2 dishes and motor.
So the switch is before everything dish and motor

On the Stab one of the cables from Switch is going into the stab on receiver side then a cable from Stab to LNB both marked on stab

But this happened to me even before I put the motor going from 3 fixed dishes when switching between dishes. It always comes back if I do a rescan
So it's not that the dish is moving wrong place. I think I'm missing something in the settings.

Here's an example.

Everything is scanned in all satellite and channels everything works. The motor is setup my coordinate put in settings.

I'm on 97w I go to satellite on remote control I hit 89w . Screen says dish moving it stops I go to channels it says no signal.

I go to settings then go to install like I'm going to set it up to try a blind scan and without doing the actual scan . It all of sudden has signal and quality everything's perfect go to channels everything is fine.

Other times exact same scenario but I actually have to do the scan and if finds all same channels everything is fine again.

Other times no issues whatsoever I jump from satellite to satellite.

And it was doing it before the stab motor
I've replaced the switch once already

So it's on the the satellite but I'm doing something wrong or I have some settings messed up.

That's why I think it's not mechanical it's something I set wrong. When I first set it up with 2 dishes I had 0 problems but now I'm having issues off and on.

Many causes of unreliable DiSEqc control signals.

1. Defect in the coax. Examples: sharp bend or kinked, water or moisture ingress, staple or other penetration. Poor quality coax. Excessively long run. Inline splitters or amplifiers.
2. Defective connector. Incorrect assembly, corrosion.
3. Low 22khz/DiSEqC output level from the STB. Spec is approx. 600mV.
4. Incorrect or poorly formatted DiSEqC command issued by the STB. This is highly unlikely as this model of STB has been in use by many users for several years.
5. Low DiSEqC sensitivity in the DiSEqC switch . Unlikely a product defect as this is a product from a primary switch manufacturer, but grounding/bonding issues can cause switching problems.
6. Switch problems also can be associated with a combination and order of components. You may find that a different LNB(f) or switch model or coax will affect the signaling.

The correct (or typical) flow of your distribution should be to place the switch after the motor loop-through. This reduces the current flow through the switch and reduces the chance of switch failure. I don't beleive that this is causing the switching errors, but I would change the switch placement if it were my system.

If you have a scope, it is easy to verify 22KHz / DiSEqC levels at any point of the system. 22KHz sensing function on a satellite meter can indicate if the control signal is present, but not very useful to detect signaling errors.

I use a scope and a DiSEqC reader that was gifted to me by Magic Static that has been very useful in trouble shooting DiSEqC errors. The reader displays the raw DiSEqC codes and makes it easy to see if codes are sent and correctly formatted.

I think you fixed it. I removed the one dish not pointed at Anything I disconnected it. Ran though the satellite got each one 0 problem..

Last question if I want to use the dish I disconnected I have to match the lnb on the other one?

Hard to say what the variable is. Might be the LNBF, the cable, the fitting or the grounding/bonding.

I would start the trouble shooting by swapping the LNBF from the disconnected dish to one that is currently working. If you start having switching reliability issues again, then I would suspect the LNBF.

What is the working LNBF model and what is the problematic LNBF model? Are they both standard type (LO 10750), universal type (LO 9750/10600) or a mix?

I was having issues yesterday so today I set up the switch STB>>> Motor>>> Switch>>> LNBFs.

Then I replaced 1 section of cable that was patch worked into system
Bingo works perfect.

Ones standard 10750 lnb
The other lnb is what ever came stop on my orby dish. I just ran scan on orby at 10750 and it worked.

Let me ask this question I'm trying to get all these settings right not sure if I'm doing it correctly.

I have the stab motor facing south I have the dish elevation at 52° I have the the stab motor elevation at 28°
I know I'm 2° off I did a blind scan for 97 west I got 95 west to be sure I tried 99 west to see if I get 97 west and I did.

So my question is this according to what I'm reading and understand is those settings are correct but I'm only getting 4 dish.

On picture below it shows 2 different elevations one on the top of the page and different from bottom of the page.
From satellite point website.

I tried the 40° I lost everything.

Is your receiver set to use Usals for aiming? If so, try this: make a setup entry for 87W KU satellite, that should be close to your South. Go to that satellite (let the motor move to that) once it does, do a blindscan. See if you are even on ANY satellite. If so, figure out which one, odds are it'll be the wrong one. Then, turn the whole motor and dish on the pole whichever way you need to to get closer to 87w. Blindscan it again. You are looking for these:

Try for The Patient Channel at:

Once you got THAT satellite locked in solid, tighten down the motor and dish. Then use USALS to check other sats and see if you get them. IF you have your declination set right, you should then be fine.

Let us know what happens once you get 87w locked in. Do NOT try moving the dish and motor after that's locked in, even if you can't get too many other sats. If that happens, we need details to figure out what else needs tweaking.

Tried 87 west blind scan got nothing

Is this the satellite that has Louisiana PBS channels? If so I had it and lost it when I tried setting my dish elevation at 40° when it moved back to 50° or whatever it's now I couldn't get it back. My wife like watching the patient channel

I just moved everything on the pole to west
Just scanned 97 west got 97 west just did 99 west got 99 west. I tried 87 west again found transponder but failed getting any channels same with 89 west got transponder but failed to get channels
