Wife wants a new laptop and I had her look at the MacBook Pro. We use a Mac Mini at home.

My wife likes the 13" model so I'm trying to find the best deal on one. So far it seems like the best price is $1179 online or $1199 local to me.

First off, what do you think of this laptop and are those good prices?

8gb ram and 128 flash. 2.6ghz cpu. We want this to last for at least 4 to 5 years.

If you don't mind a refurbished model (you can get the same warranty and AppleCare too), you can save nearly another $100.

If you want to buy AppleCare (which I would highly suggest for a refurb), I would get it through B&H Photo. They sell it for $179

I'd have to pay about $100 in taxes with the Apple Store. B&H didn't charge sales tax.

The new macbook pros are great machines, and practically as light as the macbook air I am using. Just be sure you have the ram you want now, as the new models are not user replaceable.

Good price but I think you will regret that pathetically small hard drive.

We have a 128gb flash on our Mac mini and it does us fine. We have a MyBook for anything huge.
