MLB 2008 Season

Just saw Mike Piazza @ the Shea interview. He looks like he's 30 years old and ready to don the tools again! What a classy, classy man.:up

Yes he is, that's why I wish he shoved the bat up Clemen's ass in that 2000 World Series incident!

This has been one of the more interesting baseball seasons in a long, long time.

It has the good, the bad, and the ugly.

First, the good:

The Tampa Bay Rays

Cliff Lee's ridiculous season

No Barry Bonds/Roger Clemens

C.C. Sabathia lighting it up in Milwaukee

The Cubs looking like gangbusters all year long

The Angels' killing machine of a team

K-Rod

A GREAT All-Star Game and a phenomenal home-run derby

Texas actually will finish OVER .500

Houston making a great second-half run to harbor hope for next year

Yankee Stadium's classy farewell

TWO No-Hitters

The Bad

Yanks, Mariners, and Tigers prove that more money is NOT always better

A's continue to be sellers

Manny quits on the Red Sox

The Mets' bullpen

San Diego- after their one-game playoff loss to the Rockies, have they even shown up this season?

The Ugly

The Washington Nationals :D

I've pretty much given up hope in catching Tampa Bay

Don't give up so soon Bill,
The Tigers are doing thier part , they won the first one and are leading going into the 7th , 5-2 and they will play the W. Sox on Monday from the looks of it.
The Tigers may have a say in the playoff teams afterall.

They picked a great time to start playing well.

Did I say that I want ANYONE other than the w. Sox to make it in the playoffs.

The White Sox are capable of winning a series.

The Twins not only have fell flat on their faces in recent ALDS's, but don't exactly have a pitching staff that inspires confidence outside of Liriano.

They are NOT legit, IMO.

Sabres,
Remember how poorly Sabathia started this season for the first 2 months at least .... Do you suppose he QUIT on his team back then so he could get traded and a fat contract as well (he gets traded and STILL gets a new contract)

Ala Manny in Boston, same thing happened except for the name calling.
I was looking for Sabathia's record in Cleveland this year but could not find it, he's 8-2 for the Brewers.
I know he came around eventually in Cleveland, but they had given up on the season at that point.

Sabres,

With all due respect...Minne Me giving up on his team belongs under "The Ugly" because it was as "road kill ugly" as they come!

It's STILL pouring here.

WHY they insist on trying to get this MEANINGLESS Yankees-Red Sox game in tonight is beyond ridiculous!

The obvious answer is the GATE , all the money they make.
From selling Poncho's and Hot Chocolate !

Jimbo

You've got that right Jimbo, and unfortunately that's what they've been thinking about ALL weekend.

If this Yankees- Red Sox series was in April there wouldn't have been one game played............that's how bad the weather has been here this weekend!

Sometimes MLB is just stupid ..... if the game does not effect any of the playoff scenario (and it doesn't) why bother ....

I hope 10 fans show up, and the players come out in poncho's too.
How would they feel if one of the Sox players gets injured in this meaningless game.
I certainly hope this doesn't happen, but you never know.

Jimbo

Bill,
I haven't kept track, how has Jason Bay been playing ?
Is he getting clutch hits ?
I know his defense is better.

Jimbo

He's been OUTSTANDING, Jimbo.

He might not be putting up the numbers that the other clown has, but stats aren't everything.
