So, why did the MLB allow the 1st deal to go thru ?
Not to mention the others they have signed.

Because the MLB is blind to this fact, that the good times are over regarding money and what possibly might happen with the next contract.

What this RSN drama has shown is the vast, vast majority just do not watch, the ratings do not justify the high contracts they were getting from the RSNs.

MLB has been making overtures to streaming services, because they believe that is where the next big payday will come from.

But when the LA market only has 120,000 households watching, out of 4.9 Million, they definitely should not be paid a big sum.
