guys i am finally getting there. i have 79w to 101w locking with qual at 90 from 79w to qual at 63-67 for 101w. my ques is as i look at the arc diagram and my true south is 72w and it now gets nothing really nothing at 74w either. if i read it right i am to far east for my axis. if this is true then do i physically move the motor west just a hair to be on the arc? i know my lat or elev will need a degree tweak to get each sat but i wanted to make sure that i needed to move the motor a degree west before i change the other settings. again thanks guys for all the help it is greatly appreciated:)

yes Lak7. it actually works great but when i put the lnb on wrong it did knock 72w out. i never could get anything lower than 72w. but when i had 72w i only could get to 97w. now i can get up to 101 but no further and no lower than 79w. so would that be a motor positioning or lat problem. i did lower the elev on the motor from 46 to 45 and increased the lat on the dish from 35 to 39 to lock what i have now.

If Latitude: 44.5729° is your location, I would set Latitude on the motor mount to 44.6. (as close as you can) go half way between 44 and 45.

what are you using to plumb your pole / mount?

Angle finder? Torpedo level? Carpenter's level?

guapoharry i originally used a basic level but i wanted a precise measurement so i bought a johnson angle finder. all the way around and on top it is at 0 deg which i am amazed it stays that way with the high winds here. but it is cemented in with a lot of pole cement. i will lower the elev to 44-45. i thought i might be a little to high but i couldnt figure whether to raise the lat or lower; once i lower the motor. i used the same angle finder to measure the angle from the lnb to the dish. it is 15 deg and if i add the 24.5 offset then the dish should be 39.5. does that sound bout right?

i did lower the elev on the motor from 46 to 45
Make sure you are only using the Latitude Scale on the Motor, not the Elevation.
Remember, it's results that count, you can be very precise and not get anything.
Are you able to lock your True South Sat?

Lak7. i did lock my true south at 90 percent. but as i went further to lock say 101 i lost 72w(true south). what is so confusing for me is with the motor lat is that bolt is so huge where does the real reading allign with the middle of the bolt? being that setting is set it and forget it i would like to understand what reference point to look at to set 45 degrees. i think that would help me when i am messing with the settings for the dish. if a real accuracy is needed how in the world could i set the inclinometer on the motor to get a accurate reading?

It's not the Bolt, see Pic, I colored the indicator Red...

OH MAN. thanks Lak7 now i know i have been setting it way off. i was using the bolt. so now maybe i can get somewhere. its funny i read the manual and it shows that but gives no explanation. here i go back to the yard:)

Lak7 thank you. i put my motor to that reference and now i was able to lock 103-68w. a major improvement. without you guys i would be lost. thank you very much.
