I continually get to watch some fresh US movies on Cubavision and TeleRebelde on this bird.
Some of them which are not even on PPV,
Considering there are no commercial cuts on Cuban TV it is like watching a PPV or premium channel.
Browsing their internet site I found they have scheduled Green Zone (w Matt Damon) for tonight on Cubavision. (10:30 East if you are interested)

yeah, they show stuff still in theaters,
this is one of my favorite sats
it is very apparent that they have no regard for U.S. copyright laws,
some of the movies that i have seen on this sat were obviously recorded with a video camera in a movie theater and others i have seen have had a warning at the bottom of the screen that said, "property of ------, not for public viewing, for screening purposes only.
also, watch for some good movies on ktv2 on this sat also.
at first i was a little worried about posting this in an open forum, but after thinking about it for a second, i realized that they dont care in Cuba what we post here, or what is legal in the U.S. either ;)

LOL talk about total Cuban disregard for CR laws. Have you watched US shows even with the CBS logo ? I remember watching LOST on Cubavision with the CTV logo. you name it..--
About the movies most recently I have the impression they are showing them out of DVDs..or in any event from a good digital source.
Yep, you are right also good movies on Kuwait TV 2 (by the way also available on Galaxy 19)

You bet. We get a strong signal here in east Tennessee on 30w. I get about 70 to 75 SQ on a small DTV slimline dish and a coolsat 6000. The two education channels have movies on them at times also.

Could you please post a pic of that dish showing how you mounted the LNBF and give me the model number or dimensions of it (the dish)?

I would have to mount it on my tower to get LOS to 30W but if it's the dish I think it is I have one and could handle that install with a little effort.

I used the DTV slimline(AU9) dish mounted on a J-pole and a linear dual output lnb made on the same style as the old DTV circular lnb's. You just have to drill one hole in the center end of the slimline lnb support arm and it will mount right up with the correct focal distance. I believe Sat AV still sells this lnb. If not, just try ebay and search for dual linear lnb. Will try to post a picture in a couple of days.

Platwound, here is the lnb that looks like the one I used. Sat AV calls it an SL-2 and his price is $15. If this image file doesn't come up, I will try again later with my own pics.:)

Thanks, squid, I know what LNBF you are talking about now. Is that dish the one with the micro-adjusters (for Ka-band)? Looking forward to your pics. :)

Yes, this is the one with the micro-adjusters. Don't laugh at my tree mounts. Hey, they work and provide a very solid mount. The old maple tree is about 3 feet in diameter.
Best Regards,
Larry

Are these movies in english?May try to find this bird tomorrow Thanks in advance

Yes, US movies, they will also play some foreign movies sometimes in other languages, but most of the movies are in english.
From action tu suspense to romance you name it

This afternoon Cubavision showed Valentine´s Day (for those who like romantic flicks)

Enjoy

Can you post the link where you are finding program info for this channel.

thanks

Jim

TV Cubana - Portal de la Televisión cubana.

Please note the trick on the schedules, once you go into the channel you pick, the titles of the movies are in spanish, (i.e. not their original name in english)

This is tricky even when I speak spanish, so for example you will see the name of the movie is Distrito Protegido and you can see the name of Matt Damon and other actors, I will google on IMDB that title and the name of the actor find the link and see the original title of the movie in english.
They do not always perform a translation of the title to spanish but rather give it a different name...

In general: on cubavision

Saturday 10:10 pm . USA New RElease movie. Action, Thriller , Suspense.
Sunday around 2:00 pm. USA new or recent but family oriented or comedy or drama.
Monday after 10 pm. USA new or recent as well but more like fantastic or sci-fi or adventure.
Tuesday Repeats of movies all late night , any genre but likely an age restricted one.
Wednesday: 10 pm , USA new or recent but apparently usually sci-fi or adventure
Thursday: late night movies , repeats any genre as well.
Friday: 10 pm or later USA new or recent usually action or thriller or suspense kind.

the best movie of the week shloud be the 10:10 pm on Saturday. now that they broadcast 24x7 , they have movie repeats all night almost everyday to fill the schedule. I cant seem to find specific programs that were cinefilos oriented or movie fans oriented that cater to the specialists or fans and were tailored to either all time clasics like Citizen Kane or clasic westerns like Stampeed. Maybe they moved them to another cuban channel like the Educativos.

In general , movies are in the original languaje with spanish subtitles (but they also have the English CC). Blame it to Spain for colonizing Cuba or US or Englan for failing to do so.

They run the full credits at normal speed and they will edit the movie to remove some content sometimes. Blame the Cuban Goverment or the cuban oficials deciding these matters.

Rated R movies (Restricted) are shown only after 10 pm (even if they are a classic like a Hitchcock they will not be shown during the day). In general clasifications are tighter in Cuba than in US or Canada. So a PG-16 could be R in Cuba. Blame the same people above.

Titles are changed to reflect the trama or what the movie is about rather than the actual exact translation so the regular un-interneted cuban have an idea what to expect when they read the schedule on the newspaper. Blame the cuban translator or his/her boss.

Schedules are in Spanish since in cuba spanish is the oficial language, once again blame Spain , USA or England for reason number one.

In any case , after blaming and blaming and judging and criticizing , if you still have the time then enjoy the almost uncut , 100% no comercial ads, fully credits ran, original languaje movie. Obviously SD NTSC mono audio only and for that will see who you will have to blame in the future and for how long, lol.

Thanks for the pics, Larry, nice setup you have there. I never make fun of anything that works!

I do have that exact dish, that LNBF sure makes for a clean setup...I think Brian @ SatAv needs to have a closeout sale on that model, maybe 4 for the price of 2. ;)

Is that a hard or soft maple? Probably wouldn't make much difference if you had an ice storm like we did in Jan 07, your dishes might have gotten a little scuffed.
