great falls mt
Today MT PBS officially switches to S2. There's a news release on MT PBS website explaining the new satellite frequency that they are going to be using. Joe

C/P:
The MontanaPBS service is now encoded using the DVB-S2 standard.

Satellite: AMC-21, Ku Band (125 deg W)
Polarity: Vertical
Downlink Freq: 12105.5 MHz (effective 10/1/2010)
Symbol Rate: 2.398 MS/s
Forward Error Correction (FEC): 2/3
Video Program Identifier (Video PID): 0033
Audio Program Identifier (Audio PID): 0038
PCR: 0033
The above is part of:
URGENT: New Satellite Tuning Information for MontanaPBS

I scanned 12105 V 2398 2/3 fec with my prof 7500 and I show these pids

Video Program Identifier (Video PID): 0101
Audio Program Identifier (Audio PID): 0256
PCR: 0101
PMT: 32

Video shows as H.264 also.

Oh what the heck!!!!????

I can get OETA and OKLA but now Montana is not coming in.

I edited it to show the settings posted here and there is nothing there. :(

All the other S2 channels come in, no reason why Montana shouldn't!

:(

Maybe some helpful information

My receiver does not do S2 but does do MPEG4 (SonicView HD-8000)

If you don't get S2 but do have MPEG4 here is what you still can get from AMC21 (125W) - - - this information was pulled 2 Oct 2010 at 0730 Eastern.

TELAIRITY ENCODED
12094 V 4340 3/4
VID - 32 AUD - 33 PCR - 256 (MPEG4 1080i)

PBS KIDS
12138 V 30000 3/4
VID - 49 AUD - 52 PCR - 49 (MPEG2 1080i)

PBS HD
12138 V 30000 3/4
VID - 65 AUD - 68 PCR - 65 (MPEG2 1080i)

PBS HD04
12150 V 14029
VID - 49 AUD - 52 PCR - 49 (MPEG2 1080i)

PBS NOC SD
12126 H 4444 3/4
VID - 177 AUD - 180 PCR - 177 (MPEG2 480i)

PBS SD01
12179 V 30000 3/4
VID - 177 AUD - 180 PCR - 177 (MPEG2 480i)

PBS VME (Spanish)
12179 V 30000 3/4
VID - 209 AUD - 212 PCR - 209 (MPEG2 480i)

PBS SD
12179 V 30000 3/4
VID - 225 AUD - 228 PCR - 225 (MPEG2 480i)

PBS Create
12179 V 30000 3/4
VID - 193 AUD - 196 PCR - 193 (MPEG2 480i)

PBS HD03
12179 V 30000 3/4
VID - 49 AUD - 52 PCR -49 (MPEG2 1080i)

Thus some things have disappeared from 125W but many PBS channels remain both SD and HD. I'm not sure of the number but I think I only lost a few channels.

I hope this information helps someone.

Can't lock the new Montana PBS in my CS8000HD. Anyone who already have locked the signal can let me know the FEC and if the Pilot is on or not??so I can play around, also its 8PSk or QPsk??
Thanks a lot

As happens so often, they may have shot themselves in the foot. I have to think this will adversely affect their funding drives as many will be hesitant to upgrade to another rx to get basically this 1 channel. I still get Create and PBS World. I'm going to miss PBS Montana, but I can get PBS locally OTA, won't be spending several hundred $ anytime soon to get this channel.

Carlospr43, I can't lock it on my Coolsat 8000 either. I tried FEC 2/3, 8PSK, QPSK, Pilot On/Off; no luck. Not a blip of signal.

You guys that have locked it, how does the signal strength and quality compare to OETA? I get it just fine.

I'm getting nothing at all with a happaege S2 tuner card in a PC.

Other S2 channels are coming in but are a little glitchy.

I have an old primestar 75e dish for this satelilte. I have another primestar 1m dish on satellite 97 which I think is backwards so I'm going to go swap them around and put the bigger 1m primerstar onto the PBS satellite. Maybe that's the problem?

I just need more coffee while my meter charges up. A good day for my dogs to come assist me. (read that as be in my way and a pain in my backside.. ;) )

Oh, and I can see that it's not "just me" this time. Whew... I'm sure someone will figure out what's the problem here.

:)

Aw bummer!

I should have put my meter on to charge last night when I thought about this.
It's taking f-o-r-e-v-e-r to charge.. :(

I guess I'll be putting that pole in for the lawn chair dish while this pokey old meter charges up.

Is anybody getting this on the East coast? if so with what size dish.
I'm in Nova Scotia and spend all morning tweaking my 1 meter dish and only got a lock once, not enough to be viewable.
Its not the best of days for weak signals, heavy cloud, I'm getting a lock on LPB buts its not strong enough to watch today, usually its just watchable.
Looks like I'm going to be shopping for a bigger dish, the good news is that MPB is the wife's favourite channel so the should be less static than normal :D

Not a blip here in north FL. :( I get LPB, OETA and all the national PBS feeds perfectly, so I'm not touching that dish! (I have a 1.2m P* on 125w and it was a BEAR to get it dialed in so everything came in) ...Montana did not have an HD feed anyway so no big deal to me. Not sure why i can't lock it though, but the problem is NOT dish alignment! :D
