Hello,

I wanted to say that IT WORKS!!!!:)

I FINALY was able to SLAVE my Pansat 9200HD FTA receiver
to my analog C/Ku band satellite receiver.

I hook'em up by the following instruction.

Connecting BUD C KU Band dish to one DVB receiver

IT WORKED!!!

Sorry that it took me soooo long to get to it since I've enquired about
setting up, last year or so. And now I'm here with some news.
And I do need help with anyone who's familer with Pansat 9200HD.

FIRST.....

I was able to pick up by the following satellites

Galaxy 14c
Galaxy 18c
Galaxy 23c
Galaxy 16c
Galaxy 17c (This one is good, FX East and FX West)

Those turned out OKAY. But I do have a problem
by the following satellites.

Galaxy 19c
Galaxy 3c
Galaxy 13c
AMC 11c

SECOND.....

The problem with these satellites, when I notice
there's a signal on each one of them, but NO QUALITY
appears.

Every satellite I selected, it shows

"Tuner type: DVB-S / QPSK / OFF".

What does this mean??? Does it mean that I do not
have a QPSK board installed????
According to the box when I received the Pansat 9200HD
from an ebay seller, last year, it says "DVB-S2 8psk installed".

Okay, well, why I'm seeing the above message on every
satellite that I selected from the installation setup???

I went to "Advanced & TP settings" and I found one part
that would allow me to turn on the DVB-S2 8PSK to "ON".
But there's no way to SAVE that setting for the individual
satellite.

If anyone of you are familer with Pansat 9200HD FTA receiver,
and would know how to solve the problem, please, I would
appreciate for answers. As long I'm enjoying it with the
working satellites, how can I fix the ones that shows NO
QUALITY, but have the signal. Has I done something wrong??
Or do I have to have a QPSK part that would show the quality???

Well, before you get to answer that, I notice when I first
got Galaxy 23, and at first time there it didn't have quality,
so I figured out to bring up the quality is go to my analog
satellite receiver, and change it's SKEW to take effects on
the Pnasat 9200HD. And YES, it does makes the difference.;)

So, I tried to do the samething on Galaxy 19c, didn't help.
Well, not exactly, I was able to change the TP on Galaxy 19,
on the Pansat 9200HD, and when I reached to TP-10, it does
shows quality, but YOU THINK IT WOULD SAVE AND COLLECTS
list of channels when you scan it. NOPE, it only scan that TP
shortly, and it doesn't save..

It seems to me that Pansat 9200HD would only picks up quality
if it on TP-1 and not your choice to make.

Enclosed is photos attachment of screen displays from my
Pansat 9200HD FTA receiver. And see if you could tell me
what's going on with the satellites that I cannot seem to
pull in. Others are great. But not all channels, because of
QPSK or DVB-S2 are turned OFF???

Hope all helps with answers. And sorry for being late in
catching up with my C-band project.

Thanks for taking the time to read my enquiry. I hope that you could help.

Thank you,
Eugene

To set a transponder as S2 8PSK, go into EDIT TP/SAT
Being your using an analog rcvr to select polarity, you will have to scan one polarity at a time.
Smart Scan is Blind scan, if it detects an S2 signal during Smart Scan, it will be saved to the transponder list for that sat, as S2.
Don't know if it's just my 9200, but using an S2 transponder for aiming is just about impossible, so I just use an S transponder or two found on http://www.satelliteguys.us/thelist. Then Smart scan to load the S=2 transponders.

Try to locate AMC3. There are S-2 channels there that you could play with. There are also dvb-s that you can use to tune the bird with. Are you sure you have the factory S-2 board installed? Some of the e-bay sellers might have the "hack" s-2 board installed and the "hack" board is no good for true FTA. So try the following. Try to find AMC-3 at 87 degrees west. Use tp 3834 H sr 2734. That is a fairly strong tp that carries "This" network. After getting that bird locked in, then go to advanced scan option and punch in 4080 H, sr 29123, turn on the s-2 option , 8psk = on, pilot on. That should get you some RTV channels that are s-2. Also you do need a large enough dish that is tracking the arc properly as s-2 signals are to say the least, finickey. If you can't get that tp, try 3800 H, sr 29123. That too is an s-2 transponder so make sure the s-2 option is on as stated above. This should get you started. Take this one step at a time. Too much info at one time tends to be confusing. Good luck! Have a great day!

NOTE: There are a couple of legit factory S-2 boards out there. There is the s-2 that does not blind scan, and then the s-2 plus that does blind scan provided you have the factory firmware dated June 9th of 09 installed.

Good Point !

I should have stated that it requires the S-2Plus to Smart Scan in the S-2 transponders. Guess I've just gotten lazy and take mine for granted.

Since you're getting some of the satellites, you've got to do some calculating to figure about where your positioner should be to get the satellites you're not showing quality on yet. You may not be perfectly on the arc yet. But you may be close enough to the arc to scan some of the channels on the satellites you don't show quality on yet. Five or six clicks on my v-box 5 is about one degree on the arc. I made me a chart to put up on the wall. I don't have my Pansat 9200 automatically motoring to each satellite. I'm doing it manually. Often I end up clicking my positioner one or two clicks to the right or left to get max quality on each channel -- particularly the 40 or so RTN channels on 89W. They're a little weaker because they're DVB-S2 channels.

It took me two years to get my big dish perfectly on arc.

Go to the blind scan menu. Scroll down to highlight DVB and then hit the side button. DVB-S2 will show up. Then do the blind scan. Once you do this, you'll start noticing that you're scanning two or three DVD-S2 transponders on most c-band satellites. Ku band doesn't have any DVB-S2 transponders yet.

But one caution. You're got to have a pretty good signal to get the DVB-S2 channels. They're a little harder to come in than just regular DVB-S.

Happy satellite hunting!!!

Okay guys, thanks....;)

Everything's fine....
I just had another problem.
I tried to record the tv channel onto a USB stick.
All the sudden it says "HDD IS NOT READY".
What's wrong???
I formated the USB stick on my computer and
insert the USB stick into my Pansat 9200HD,
and thought that I can record tv shows.

Also, I have the other problem...
I Galaxy 16c satellite, I couldn't find the following TPs.

4100V 29998 S-2
4120H 29998 S-2
4140V 29998 S-2

I couldn't find it when I use "Smart scan".
I think that the factory of Pansat hasn't listed these TPs???
I even updated from 1219 to 1226 bin.
The last updated on the Pansat 9200HD was Feb. 2009 when
I bought it on ebay. So, I upgraded it to 1226 bin, and it
listed as updated June 9, 2009.
And that doesn't make any difference in finding the above TPs.

When you go to "Edit TP/Satellite" you'll see what the factory
listed. And I don't see the above TPs that I listed, isn't listed
in the "Edit TPs". Even "smart scan" couldn't find it.
All I got is what the factory proived it's TPs for Galaxy 16c.

Or does the above list of TPs are on Ku band?? And not C-band???

Oh, buy the way, for the LAUGH, I was able to do "smart scan"
on Galaxy 19c satellite, and BOY, I was OUTRAGIOUS of what I saw!!!
My pansat 9200HD picked up all the foriegn countries!!!!
YES, like AZ-TV and Irainian channels, Pakiskan, and one of those
channels showed AL QUEDA speaches!!!!!

I thought that Galaxy 19C would have GOOD STUFF that's most
popular satellite, here in U.S. But, I don't see it, just mostly
foriegn channels!!! How DISCUSSING!!! :)
I even able to pick up Galaxy 19ku band without changning
the polariry on my analog C/Ku band receiver.
I gues that the Diseq switch does it self. Because I connected
both C and Ku band cables into splitters. And from splitters, to
the Diseq to the Pansat. What a surprise. ;)

Okay, hope this helps with answers about recording tv shows
onot a USB stick drive.

I could be wrong, but I think the USB is just for firmware updates, saving channel lists etc. For recording, I believe you must use a HDD formated FAT32.
Getting all those foreign language on C band leads me to think you have the DISQC programming wrong it Antenna setup. As they are all on the Ku band.
You will only get polarity that your analog rvcr is on. Switch polarity with the analog rvcr.
Use Disqc programming to select C or Ku port of the Disqc sw.

I wonder if something isn't going on between the two receivers you have hooked up together.

Try hooking your 9200 up and see what it will do by itself. Maybe you can isolate the problem that way. If you're scanning DVB-S2 at all, you ought to be able to figure out a way to get all the transponders since the 9200 blind scans.

I had to toss the old "ninja" module out and buy a new DVB-S2 board. Once I cut my 9200 on, everything started coming in with blind scans.

I use a v-box positioner ($50). With a new digital combo lnb ($50) you ought to be able to get everything up there without the old analog receiver. I used my old analog Drake and co-rotor to make sure my old dish was on arc. It and the old co-rotor 2 are just attracting dust now.

Good luck!!!

I tried to record the tv channel onto a USB stick.
All the sudden it says "HDD IS NOT READY".

The USB slot is for updates for the firmware and to pop in some mp3 tunes if I am not mistaken along with transferring channel lists. If you want to record you need a SATA hard drive and cable plugged in to the SATA port on the back of the receiver.

Try punching in the parameters directly in the advanced scan area. It is possible that you have one of the older boards that does not blind scan S-2. For manual scanning make sure you punch in the FEC. By the way, those are C-band transponders you listed.

even able to pick up Galaxy 19ku band without changning
the polariry on my analog C/Ku band receiver.

The band weather C or Ku is selected by the Diseqc switch. That said however the polarity is controlled by the receiver. Chances are you scanned the same polarity on each band. Change channels and rescan to get the rest of what is on that bird. Look for RBN.
Have a great day!

Just got to reprogramming my 9200 so I looked at
Galaxy 16c satellite, I couldn't find the following TPs.
4100V 29998 S-2
4120H 29998 S-2
4140V 29998 S-2
4100V - had to do a TP scan to find 'em.
4120 and 4140 - I get nothing, Q.= 0

You will only get polarity that your analog rvcr is on. Switch polarity with the analog rvcr..[/QUOTE said:
Do you really have to go and change polarity in your 4dtv/cband receiver to match the one in your Pansat 9200HD? is it supposed to change when you change channel in your Pansat while you are using your slave package?

The master receiver controls the polarity, not the slave receiver.
