NBC Shutting Down NBCSN

Isn't IndyCar in better financial shape than NASCAR?

I will miss the Mecum auto auctions.
I bet Mecum turns up somewhere after NBCSN is shuttered. They were around for several years on the Discovery networks, mainly Velocity (Now MotorTrend) before moving to NBCSN. Wouldn't be surprised if they ended up back there unless DIscovery's deal with Barrett-Jackson prohibits covering both.

I could see that going to Peacock.

I'd be surprised if it was. Even with NASCAR's decline, outside of the Indy 500, I believe IndyCar races have generally been more on par with the NASCAR Xfinity/Truck races ratings-wise with Cup ratings still a good bit higher.

Indy is a far better product. They race faster and have cooler cars.

If they push most of their sports to USA then they will have to change their platform because the only sport on USA now is wrestling. They have some good original programs that I like. e.g. Queen of the South and The Sinner. I guess getting rid of all NCIS, Law & Order SVU and Modern Family reruns wouldn't help.

USA back in the 80s had hockey and mlb baseball

According to Wall Street NBCSN has lost viewership as watching sports in general is down. But they say the real reason is NBC is finding ways to maximize their sports not lose it. USA is in Millions more homes than NBCSN. And the Peacock Channel is turning out well. USA they feel is perfect for a mix of programming it now has with added sports. Similar to how TNT emerged as a strong channel.

NBC is looking to dump a bunch of under performing channels

I grew up on USA in the 80's I remember the game shows.
This would have been early 80s

Between 1984 and 1986, USA's programming focus began shifting away from sports, and shifted towards general entertainment programs not found on broadcast stations, including some less common network drama series and cartoons.
