need help please

I just moved into a new house which im rentig.well the previous renters had directv and left a bill of 400.00.now before I call directv will they ask me to pay their bill.I never had directv and wish to get it instead of time warner.thanks

There are numerous reports of this happening, where the account is tied to the address and Directv not wanting to start another one there. You might try emailing Ellen Filipiak. She is a mucky muck in customer service. Her office is pretty good about fixing problems like this. Here is her email address: ellen.filipiak@directv.com Good luck!
