I bought my setup eight months ago and keep getting discuraged when trying to find sats. I have a pansat 3500sd winguard 30in and a Invacom QPH-031 Quad LNBF. My location is zip32935 80.6w 28.1n. This is the sats i have programed in and the quality i get on each one.

sat location quality

72degree 0%
74 0% to 99% it jumps never inbetween
79 68%
82 0%
85 0%
87 15%
91 45%
95 74%
97 20%
99 75%
101 16%
103 0%
105 0%
107 0%
116 10%
123 0%
127 0%
129 0%

can someone tell me what to do?

It looks like you are not tracking the arc very well. Try this:

Slew the dish to the 87 deg position. Slowly and gently push and pull on the dish to make it "look" slightly higher and slightly lower in the sky. Note which direction improves the signal.

Slew the dish to the 101 position and repeat the procedure.

Post your results here and I (or someone else who comes along before me) will help you determine what needs to be tweaked.

What knid of motor do you have? Once we know we can double check all the angles :)

I had similar problem at the end of arc. Pole was plumb, everything else was fine. I had to add a packing b/w motor shaft and dish mounting tube as there was a little slack...I used thick paper as spacer.

Also satellites at each end of the arc may have to be set using DiSEqC 1.2 often USALS will not work for the extreme ends of the arc!

Pete's absolutely right! I had to use 1.2 to get to the edges. USALS didn't quite make it. Low signal on the ends until I used the receiver to "nudge" the dish in the right direction.

I have the same slack problem with my dish/motor combo. I used some small thin wood pieces as shims to get the everything tight.

Cheers!
Hantu

Thanks for the info. I went up on the roof and started playing with the dish and figured out that the lmb was not set just right . I went to 101 and with the lmb fix it went from 15% to 47%. I started getting eaten alive by mosquitos and had to come down. I will go up in the morning and see what i can get.

Please follow the picture below so you track the arc correctly.

It takes training, but you will get there by time.

I am SURE it used to also be in the old Moteck SG2100 manual! But don't see it in the new manuals :(
