My STB started locking up when I blind scanned 91W. It would always stop at 90%. I disabled network search and now it works fine. Can anyone explain what happened?

Often a NIT - Network Information Table is not built correctly or to configured to the DVB protocol. I never use network scanning .
Not used in NA FTA very often but, if so, there are packets in the data stream that have NIT entries....Network Information Tables.
This will contain additional information about the network being scanned. Stuff like transponder information and such that are associated with the current network or MUX. During a Network Scan or Network Search( different receivers call it different things), it will read this table and then go and look for other transponders in the table for additional channels.
...but as I said at the first, here in NA, turn it off.
