So, if I get the card in the mail, and I ask it "Who is the Vice-President of the United States?" and the card replies "Britney Spears", then I know it is the wrong card, right? ;)

I just got done chatting with a rep. She stated that if the billing and physical address differ, by default it will go to the billing, unless you let them know. So.... phew!

Dish has to be mailing out 1.5-2 million cards a week (note cards not accounts). They probably have 30-40 million receivers out there, somewhere close to 2 million cards a week would get it done by the end of the year. They have to spread it around to avoid call center overload.

Has anyone asked for their cards to be send right away and gotten them.

I want to "move" and use the Eastern Ark for football season so I need my new cards now. I called and asked Tech. They told me that my account was noted but I feel that probably doesn't mean much.

I got a replacement 622 yesterday. It came with the new purple smart card.

Bummer, it looks like the replacement was one of the refurbished "A" series 622's. I hope they fixed the HDMI connection problem on the refurbs.

Look at the HDMI jack - is there a screw right above it?

Yes. So I think it is OK. But this 622 appears to have some mileage on it. There are some light surface scratches on the front face plate. We'll see how long it lasts.

I got a 1-ft HDMI extension from monprice.com that have attached to the back of the cabinet so the 622 doesn't bear the full weight of the cable. That should help.

Sounds like they worked on it. The HDMI should be fine but I can't vouch for the hard drive!

When I got my 622 to replace my 942, I did not get a new machine but a refurb with the HDMI fix and I have not had a problem with it in 18 months.

My first 622 lasted about 6 months before the HDMI connection failed. The second one lasted about 18 months until the hard drive failed. Before I send it back I'll try one last time to reserect it so I can transfer the recordings to the external hard drive.

I'm waiting on a replacement 722, because mine died yesterday. Will it have the new G3 smart card built in, since new receivers have the new G3 cards built in since a few months? Or will I still get a new card later on to stick in the slot?
