I recently bought a home in Naples Fla, well its a condo. I'm from Canada, I would like to get the service installed at my location, question I have is can I do it myself, meaning will Direct TV let me order the product and have a local guy install. Reason being, I'm down there sporadically and have a local gent who can do it for me. How will activation take place for my receivers, do I call them when the install is done etc. Detailed help would be appreciated, thanks. I've spoken to Direct, me being Canadian is not an issue, but the operator wasn't sure about the install procedures with respect to doing it myself.

:welcome to Satelliteguys!

Why do it yourself? Directv will do a basic install for free.

Directv requires their installer on 99.9999% of accounts. You'd have to pay full price for everything yourself and after setting it up call to activate, and HOPE they let it slide through.

I know you wouldn't have a problem getting the equipment from a local dealer and either self install or have the dealer do it. Then just call DirecTV for service as that's how I have done it. I never have and never will go thru DirecTV for equipment needs and it works out just fine. Of course it's what ever you prefer.

Some questions

Why recording both rather than new that is selected for a series?
