No PIP from Joey 4

I would link the Joey 4 to other Hopper 3 anyway just to check the PIP feature. Maybe when you want to watch OTA use the drop down menu and watch the other Hopper 3 with the OTA connected. I would test that but I have my OTA connected to both my Hopper 3s.

And yes DISH is slow when rolling out updates

Give it time ours took a while to get the update!!! Have you tried the options button on the remote as well it shows up on ours as no 4 pip and there's a button to enable it...

On the whole home section of daignostics I tried to link the wired Joey 4 to the Living Room 1 Hopper3 got a message saying no actions available.
maybe because each Hopper 3s is on a Solo Hub with one client (Joey) hard wired to each Solo Hub and that wired Joey is linked to the Hopper 3 on the same Solo Hub?
Should I use a Duo Hub?
Hard reset didn't work. In fact Hopper 3 #1 can't recieve a satellite signal unless Hopper 3 #2 is pugged in. Doesn't make sense since power inverter is plugged in on the line to Hopper 3 #1.
Do I need to use a Duo Hub to link everything?

No matter what I do wired Joey 4 wont update to get me PIP. I think updating is broken on Hopper 3 software version 703 which was installed on my Hopper 3s the day before my wired Joey 4 was installed.

I thought you said both H3s could see each other in the drop down menus! I use a Duo Hub so my two Hopper 3s see each other. You will probably need to run a coax jumper cable connecting your two Solo Hubs. I'm not sure which two terminals on the Solo Hubs to connect together. I'll have to look at a Solo Hub. Will check tomorrow. I'm already in bed for the nite. Maybe someone else can help.

Yep, sounds like a software issue. Get a tech visit.

Yep, sounds like a software issue. Get a tech visit.

He's not telling us the software installed on his joey 4!!! that info would help us as well

our setup is a dish to a solo hub to two 3 way splitter for our 5 joey 4's and another wireless joey... though we pay for locals we have the ota also...
have you tried going into the menu going to settings diagnostics tools and selecting software update if it's available on your hopper??? dish commonly pushes the updates late night early morning!!!
dish didn't hit the boxes with a refresh signal to try and get it to update???

The software version on my Android Joey 4 is S52700 3/14/2024, 9:25
My Hopper has had the latest software SWID H703 since December 19th which was the day before my Android Joey was installed.
It has been suggested that Hopper software H703 broke updates.
The tech visit that was scheduled for this morning had to be changed to tomorrow morning due to an issue with my Dish account.

The Joey "P" software has now shown up on my system as well. I never lost PIP, but the Joey P versions were missing since the 703 update.

Should I use a Duo Hub?

My suggestion is to go to a Duo Hub and use a splitter off the Duo Hub center tap to feed all your Joeys. All the equipment will be able to see each other and share DVR content anywhere.

Wish me luck, 3 joey 4 boxes swapping 2x joey 3 and a joey 4k... started with only one today.. I'll see if it updates tonight..
If not, am i power plug rebooting my h3, or the joey 4 ?? Just gathering.a game plan..
Current joey 4 software is from 2024..

Annoying about the full time hdr flag.. but I'll sort it out somehow... new lg c5, and lg g5 are 2 of the 3 tvs for the joey4 ...

well, woke up and things didn't go as expected, but got it all sorted.. my other 2 old boxes were disconnected, was unable to check new joey 4 box...
Started with the j3 swap, turned the j3 to unpair remote, and it was offline... ok... checked 4k, yep, same..
i swapped the other 2 boxes, and after the first one, it sorta hung on a black dish screen, but the screen saver worked.. pulled the power cord on the H3, rebooted, then power cycled the joey 4, all good, got to the google stuff right away this time... swapped the 4k for the j4, no issues there, right to the google, and right to dish as expected. so that's good, all 3 new boxes seem to be working..

now, not sure if i can force a j4 software update, or nudge it somehow..
as far as tvs, i flipped the extended range off for right now, not sure a good long term solution.. have to see how we use the j4, vs lg apps, and zidoo z9x as well...

speed seems much better, pip will be very nice.. just waiting for the update now.. my one j4 seemed to update itself at like 6am, so that's good... 2 of 3 confirmed updated.. wifey watching 3/3 heh... so later i'll check..

for checking if updated i went here too..

1. Press the Home button on your remote.
2. Select the Cogwheel (Settings) icon.
3. Select Device Preferences.
4. Select About, then choose Software Update.

Haven't read the whole thread, but Joeys update from software on your Hopper.
If the Hopper has the latest software version when Joeys and Hopper are in standby they will pull new software from the Hopper.
Joeys don't get updates directly from Dish, only through Hoppers.

My wired Joey 4 definitely hasn't updated.

The wired Joey 4 says the software version is S52700 3/14/2024, 9:25.

I wish there was a way to update it.

The Dish installer said there was not a way to directly update from the wired Joey 4.

The Dish installer said that updates happened through the Hopper 3.

Lack of update on my wired Joey 4 is probably the reason for no PIP.

All of my equipment is shown in whole home on both Hopper 3s but the wired Joey 4 is linked to one specific Hopper 3 for OTA.

The wired Joey 4 was linked to that specific Hopper 3 for access to it's OTA.

Also thanks. Saying my 4K Joey wasn't the problem is good because the 4K Joey looks great connected to my old Pioneer plasma.

Upgrade your software on your hopper using Tools menu and I bet it will come with new software for the Joey 4s and Plus unit as well. All that is stored on the hopper as well. Now if your software is up to date it will say so when you try to upgrade it. But you can check and see if it allows you to upgrade.

Next day after the unplugging of everything for a couple of hours and then plugged everything back in then waiting overnight, the Joey 4 finally updated the software.
I hadn't expected unplugging to work but I think it must have helped.
I think that I had been waiting for the software on the Joey 4 to update for almost two months before unplugging was suggested.
