GEOSATpro ON/OFF Reboot Looping

Pittsville, heres some threads with posts that may be of help making and connecting a serial cable.
The micro hd pinout

The PDF from this link

shows the orientation of the microHD connector and also guides you through the process.

If your Ali editor program was downloaded from here some time ago, re-download the editor as I found the editor to be corrupted some time ago and Brian re-posted it. The edit would run, the info screen listed the same version but when the old and new ones were compared with a hex editor there were a few different bytes causing some channel list editing to corrupt the channel list. Please see the following thread:

If your TTL/RS232 converters do not need to get their power from the microHD, then you only need to connect the Transmit data, Receive data and ground. Remember to cross your transmit and receive data wires. i.e. Transmitted data from the PC goes to the Receive data on the microHD, and Transmitted data from the microHD goes to the Receive data on the PC.
Heres the thread for cable I made:
http://www.satelliteguys.us/threads/305802-Serial-Transfer-Cable-for-the-microHD
and as stated in that thread I did not connect the 5 volts to the microHD, but used a 9 volt battery and a 7805 voltage regulator to power the converter chip as I only had 3 pins in my connector. (one space had no pin in the connector I used)

Thanks for that information. I'm going to look at all of it, as soon as I finish kicking myself for forgetting to bid on the Thompson Saginaw 7822260 dish mover that sold for 51 dollars on ebay a few hours ago.

I hope another satelliteguy bought it.

Get a Venture Maxi Ball screw model if at all possible. They still sell them new, but they are a bit pricey. But you will NEVER need a new one, and they are about the best out there. The cheap China ones are garbage, and you are lucky if they last even a single year... http://www.venturemfgco.com/satellite-maxi-ball-screw.html

Venture also makes a NON ball screw model, but that can get excessive wear after a period of time. The ball screw model is by far the best of the best. I have one, and I'll never go back to junk.

I tried a few different level converters but the program would not see them. All of the devices I tried to use are 9 pin serial, and I was connecting them to a USB to serial port adapter. I think that might be part of the problem I am having. I had the MicroHD powered up when I tried to connect with it, so I was not supplying power to the pin that wants 5 volts. If it has to have 5 volts on that pin for some reason, it won't be getting it from me, until I have the right cable.

I received the adapter cable today. I got the 3.50 model from China. With shipping it was 5 dollars. I also had to remove the black plastic blocks from the wires because they would not all fit into the 4 pin connector on the receiver. I spliced them to the CDROM cable that I tried to use before. It did not work.

The green light on the receiver came on but it would never test the serial port. I reversed the green and white wires and that made it start working. Apparently the one I have is made wrong, compared to the one being used in the tutorial. When I look at the adapter I have in the device manager it says it is a "Prolific USB to serial bridge".

So, if anyone has trouble with theirs, it could be that the green and white wire need to be swapped.
