One change you'd make to the D* receiver

I would make it so that any of the boxes that are networked to an HD DVR via MRV can see and adjust the recording schedule.

Customizing the banner colors would be nice, so not everyones looked the same (color wise), this also was done in older generations of D* recvrs, these were the ones that were out BEFORE D* Branded all thier recvrs.

I think it would be a wise move to stop manufacturing excessive numbers of receivers: standard; standard DVR; high definition; high definition DVR. I'd do away with the first three. And I'd figure out a pricing incentive for people to have HD DVR service. Not sure if this is the best way to say it, but I am guessing that a lot of expenses could be reduced if not only DirecTV but all other cable-television providers were to do the same.

I believe you can change to the instant Skip back, if you also have the instant skip FF set up.
Sounds like your set up on Slip instead of Skip.
