Well, that's what Iceberg once called them. This ad for a Coolsat receiver on Craigslist tends to support that conclusion:

"THIS IS A FREE TO AIR RECEIVER TO GET FREE SATILLITE TV IT IS A WORKING UNIT I DO NOT AND WILL NOT PROGRAM IT FOR YOU IT HAS SOFTWARE INSTALLED FOR ECHO 119 AND 110 BANDS GET PPV AND MOVIE CHANNELS WITHOUT PAYING A BILL ALL THAT FOR $75 OT TRADE LET ME KNOW WHAT YOU HAVE BUT CASH IS THE BEST OPTION I GIVE NO WARANTEE'S AND IS SOLD AS IS IT HAS THE RECEIVER MANUAL AND BOX LET ME KNOW WILL SELL FAST"

I'm not sure I'd pay $20, much less $160+ for that Viewsat 9000 HD.
The seller is getting out while it (-may-) still have a few cents value! -
Viewsats are not known for their FTA-friendliness.... like motor & switch control.

As for the Coolsat at $75, that's a joke, unless it's one of their HD models...
... and even then, I'd save my money for an AZbox...

From what I understand about the AZbox and DVB-S2, it doesn't show any quality on a tp until after a scan has located channels. That could be a problem in locating the right position in the first place . The Coolsat 8000, though, will show a Quality lock before scanning , so you can use the CS8000 to "nudge" the dish into the narrow window that you're going to get with a DVB-S2 signal. I anticipate having to slave my AZbox to the Coolsat when trying to acquire DVB-S2 channels on the AZbox.
Of course, with the frequent AZbox firmware changes, perhaps that will be unneccesary by the time my box arrives later today.
:)

I wasn't gonna buy the 9000, I was just looking around, saw that one had some pics and had to laugh. I'm still holding off on replacing my dead 8000 with an azbox. Well, saving up some fun money actually.
