Check this out from yahoo news :
BISMARCK, N.D. - Officials are baffled over why someone would cut off the tops of nearly a dozen evergreen trees belonging to a man near Bismarck. Ron Koch estimates his loss at about $4,000. Authorities said it happened sometime within the last week.

"Some of them, they cut off 3, 4, 5, 6 feet," Koch said.

*I wonder if there was a (now) happy fta-fan across the road from him? LOL

eco-terrorism ? no, just FTA-terrorism !

Good point, Iceberg.
I used to live in South Dakota, and I don't recall seeing any.! ;)

As for the damage to his trees... ahahhaahahahahahh $4k , my green hide!

And besides, it's so much less obtrusive compared to BLOWING THEM UP ! - :D
I can just see the toothpicks raining down, now ! - :up

LOL
Those evergreens do a great job of blocking a satellite, we're covered with cedars here, and you CANT find a place to peek thru one of them, the way they are shaped. At least with a pine you can get lucky sometimes and find a place to chop a branch and get the signal thru.

Sometimes some must sacrifice for the common good. :)

Honestly though, that does suck for the tree owner and I hope an FTA'r isn't responsible (or any dish owner). $4k damages seems a bit excessive, especially since it just is evergreens. I'm not much into trees and such, but I don't know of many exotic evergreens, especially any growing in the Dakota's. I've never been there, but I've seen pics. Seems like if anything was growing there, it was something that luckily got a roothold.

maybe thats why they put such a high value on them.
If it was a few mounts ago I would say Xmas trees.
