Thanks for all the info guys (especially the moon bounce). Who knew that in 2004 we would be worrying about antennas.

Besides I'm wondering if the new software will truly let you scan all "available" channels? Or will the FCC tell Voom that you can't allow your customers to receive signals from out of area stations. Unfair competition and what-not.

Yes, it will. There's nothing stopping you from scanning other DMAs as long as you can receive them with your OTA antenna.
