Outernet PI setup

After hearing about this on SatNat tonight here we go!!

I'm getting this to work before I go to bed. This is awesome. So awesome the A3 is sidelined tonight.

So Far:

1- http://sourceforge.net/projects/win32diskimager/
2- http://downloads.raspberrypi.org/raspbian_latest
3- Burn Image
** #1 to resize sd card **
4- Booted right "Change password" #2
5- Type "ifconfig" to display ip address.

6- SSH in via putty "Username=pi" and password you set
7- sudo su
8- wget https://raw.githubusercontent.com/Outernet-Project/orx-install/master/raspbian/install.sh
9- bash install.sh

10- sudo apt-get update
11- sudo apt-get upgrade
12- sudo rpi-update
13- plugged in tuner
14- rebooted
15- http://192.168.25.138:9981/

And we have a problem Houston Grrrr. Going to find USB hub like docs say otherwise i will have to recompile kernel.

typing "df" shows i'm out of space starting over

Had to copy firmware files into different folder.

But now its scanning all the Tp's but the one with outernet lol.


Going to let it scan overnight i'm hitting the sack.

Glad you got it working, I am waiting on my Sat tuner to ship and then I get to play with mine.

I ordered the PCTV 461e from Hauppauge but it won't ship until the end of the month when they get a new shipment in.

I think I read that those are having issues may want to double check on the outernet forums. Perhaps we should start a outernet area?

My thought is that we move this project from the FTA area, it will get lost in some sub-forum that is not seen by the members that have the majority of the gear and experience to assist with the project. If it catches on, then maybe a sub-forum??

I saw something about it not working well, but I think it was fixed with Arch Linux and kernel 3.16

And success had to switch from a standard to uni l-104 and bingo.

I got my USB tuner today and set this up, so far it has been like you said very low data rates but I have picked up a wikipedia
page.

So far I have only picked up a total of 11 wikipedia pages, I wonder if the PCTV 461e is the problem.
