Sources say that earlier this week NHL officials imposed several conditions on Balsillie's purchase of the Penguins that would have made it impossible for him to move the team if Isle of Capri wasn't chosen. Under those conditions, the NHL could have forced Balsillie to give up management or ownership of the club.

One source said Balsillie was surprised by the conditions and terminated his agreement, leaving the Penguins' future in turmoil.
 
From what I understand there just gonna wait to see who wins the slots license, and if The Isle of Capri doesn't win they'll go with "plan b".

Then maybe real Pittsburghers Dan Marino and Mark Cuban will buy the team.:D

Plus once the arena is approved Mario might get more for the team.

There's reports that if Isle Of Capri didn't win the license then Balsillie was gonna move the team, so this might be a good think for the team and the city.

Time will tell.
