Perf versus Mesh

Here's a theoretical question: If all other aspects of two C Band dishes are identical,does a Perforated dish have any better performance than a Mesh screen dish?

I can see where it might remain in truer parabolic shape...but then again,if the perf gets dinged up it could be harder to re-straighten correctly.The mesh in both my dishes does a bit of flopping in the wind which probably reduces signals to some degree.

I'm guessing the difference wouldn't be enough to detect in the real world.What do you guys think?

The perf offers more reflective surface than the mesh and is stronger too. The perf is flatter than the mesh but the difference in C-Band performance may be small. More noticeable improvement with Ku signals.

Thanks for the reply,Magic.That's kinda what I was thinking.

I DO expect to see some improvement since the mesh is a buttonhook and the perf has the 4 lnb support arms though.I think I'll swap dishes first...then try to add support arms to the buttonhook while I have it down.

I tried paracord to stabilize the buttonhook but it was only marginally improved.
