The wires coming out of that box is the comcast box which is locked and holding my roof OTA hostage, but comcast is supposed to be here today from 3pm to 5pm, after they have cancelled the appointment 2 times because they do not understand the request (I am a comcast customer also)

The other pics are my balchany where I plan to mount my FTA 36 inch Geosat and Geosat motor, I also took pictures of DUE SOUTH to give you guys some idea of my view window of where I will be pointing that thing (37923 zip)

Set Up

Still don't know what to make of your OTA antenna, hey as long as it works right. Is that a DPP44 switch running all of those ovals? Also what is the maximum # of dishes the 44 can handle?

Here's my setup :)

30" dish for FTA
Dish500 for Dish
37x27 dish for StarChoice
30" dish for FTA

on deck
39x23 dish for FTA (aimed at G3)
36" dish for FTA (aimed at G10)

And, you live in a "rented" apartment in a historical district! :shocked :shocked :shocked

that is insane, but looks cool.

The 39x23 on the deck will probably come down soon. It was used last year for North Dakota hockey games. Their signal was crap on 30" dishes and the 39x23 worked better. They moved satellites and are BOOMING signal now :)

The 36" dish for G10 is kinda for the same thing...signal on a 30" isnt the best so the 26 helps signal : )

I finally got out and snapped some pix. I notice a bunch of other peoples pics either got lost or not showed up, so I hope I get these right.
There is a string of 2.4 dishes, most Ku, I think one is still on C. Then there's the 3.0 and 3.2 C dishes with a 1.2 Ku dish in the middle up on the roof. And looking the other way, you see 1.2 and 2.4 Ku with one of the previous big C dishes in the back. Not shown are the 3.4 C dish in front of the building, a number of 18"-24" dishes hidden here and there, and all the stuff on the ground in the back waiting to go up. The ground mounted 1.2 does not have a feed horn right now. I'm hoping to get a motor for that one and put a new feedhorn and LNB on it soon.

The center dish in that first picture, the 2.4 with the yellow line around the edge.... the feedhorn mount looks the same as mine.. with a pole straight into the throat of the lnb..

does this work ok for Ku? or is that the C dish?

I have visions of using the Chaparal quad c/ku feedhorn, but I think I am going to have to make a new mount for it...

That would be the C band dish, now pointed at SatMex5. It has an old dual feedhorn on it. IIRC, at one time I had an adapter on the other hole for a Ku LNB, but it didn't work too well.

oh, that isnt the same as mine.. pretty close, but not exactly the same.. mine goes straight into the neck of the feedhorn, yours goes to the side a bit..

I am not surprised about the adapter, I have heard of them, but the waveguide and elements are just not made for that frequency band...

This is my 10" Wilson c-band dish. It's 20' tall to the center of the feed horn when the dish is level. It's secured to my roof with a 3 1/2" muffler clamp and set in 1000 lbs of concrete, in a 4 foot hole. After 6 hurricanes the only problem I've had so far was with hurricane Charlie. It moved the dish out of line by about 1/8 inch.

here's the latest picture from July. Things have changed temporaily. Top dish for AMC 4 has been taken down for SBS 6. There's now 2 on the patio for SBS 6 and AMC 9 in pots. I'm getting 2 more dishes from Sadoun here in December to replace the 2 in the pots with 1 meters. Small dish on IA 8 will be replaced and the dish up top will be put up again, but maybe for G4 instead of AMC 4. Small dish will be kept for parts until I'm allowed to put up another pole.
