Preparation to sell Dish DVR - what to do

Is there anything special that I have to do if I want to sell my two owned Dish DVRs. I seem to recall that I have to call and 'clear' them so that the new owner will not be stuck with any fees, but how do you prove that when you sell it?

Do they give you a validation number or something? I know I can throw them up on eBay, but I just need an idea if there's anything I can do before listing them that will make the sale easier/safer for the buyer.

If you list the receiver number, they can call Dish and confirm that the receivers are purchased and eligible for transfer to another account (has 0 balance on account). There's confirmation number that they can be transferred.

If you send the Receiver numbers in a PM, I can make sure they're "Clear".

Thanks Matt. Question: Once they're 'deactivated', can I still watch what's on the HDs?

on the internal, yes. EHD I don't believe so as the "key" will have been cancelled for the account.

The internal drive still works (I'm pretty sure). EHD's will not work.
