Did anyone have a price increase today on their equipment? I own my VIP211k's, and they have been $5.00. My bill that I received last week shows the "add-ons" as being $5.00. However, I just logged into my Dish account, and my "add-ons" are now $10.00. Did the additional receivers go up by $5.00 recently?

As I mentioned, my last bill shows $5.00 and under the notes, nothing is mentioned about a price increase.

However, when I make a change (tried to add the Columbian pack for $2 so I could generate my bill) and there is a new line - it says "Access for TV" - whereas previously that line item was not there. I hope they aren't charging $5.00 for the initial TV now...

Apparently it's not an "owned receiver" fee but rather an extension fee that's applied to 2nd and subsequent viewing. Maybe that played into their decision to force a box at every TV- garnering those fees

Possibly. In theory, $9 of the base pack has a rental fee built in. But now is this $5 a chance to get a little more? I don't know for sure. According to chat, it is a glitch and will be resolved in a timely manner, but we shall see. Part of my thinks there is a going to be a new charge, whether it is now or this fall. Here in Illinois, the law requires we are given 30 days notice of any fee changes, but I have not been given anything.

I went to try to add the Heartland channel as dummy to see what it would do for me as I own my receiver and have DISH Outdoors and this is what mine shows. (Note however I had to take the 2nd receiver I told you I added the other day off because I was told you can only have 1 receiver when you have a one outlet on the Dish Playmaker and was having issues with the 2nd receiver and I didn't know that and that was done yesterday as well so I am back to one receiver.)

I asked again, and the rep I talked to said it is a glitch and that "Access for TV" shouldn't be there - the rep pulled up my future month bills and that charge isn't on it. So I am not going to worry about it right now, but it will be interesting to see when the price changes happen later this year. Will this line item show up? The fact that it is a specific item that is different from anything makes me think it is more than a glitch. But we shall see.

I am hoping they don't add this down the road. Things are expensive the way it is now. Even DIRECTV allows the first receiver free. This would go against DISH and DISH is already loosing subscribers I wouldn't think they would do these kind of tricks but you never know. Always look at your bills for unknow charges. I heard horror stories of people getting charged for things they didn't know were there.

What is DiSH Playmaker?

What is DiSH Playmaker?
A DISH Playmaker is a portable satellite DISH. DISH allows pay as you go service and since I like to go places a lot and I like to take my DISH where ever I go it really comes in handy. I can use it at home as well. I bought my equipment from DISH4MyRV but this latest Wally Receiver I bought I had bought from Amazon as they were much cheaper this time around. DISH4MyRV runs excellent sells but always during the non camping season. late October, November, December, January, February, and March are excellent months to buy from them. They also offer antenna and receiver bundles. I also bought the tripod to keep the antenna off the ground and away from the elements as well as It is a must. I really like my service.

To circle back up on this. Dish is giving me a "courtesy credit" of $5 for the next 3 months to offset the "Access for TV" line item. Dish re-affirmed that it was a glitch and shouldn't be there. The first TV receiver access fee is built into the cost of the base package.

So in the end, everything will work out. But as I said before, I do wonder about this line item long term. Will there be a change in structure of fees when the price increases happen in 3 months? Maybe there will be a marketing ploy where there is no increase in packages, but everyone will be charged $5 for the first receiver? Is my account being flagged because I only have VIP211k's and there will be an additional charge for an old receiver? The evil side of me trying to find out why this line item is there :biggrin

Can't wait for the Roku's and Firesticks to start charging per month ... :oldmad:sorry
Doubtful, that is a Cable/Satellite thing, along with paying a high monthly fee for a bunch of reruns.

At least you get those reruns for free with a Roku.

Just keep an eye on the bill from month to month ...
These companies are notorious for making up fees and calling them different things, or something that the sub doesn't recognize, many times the charge is added and the sub doesn't even know they are paying for it.

Yeah... my gut is that this is what this is... Especially if it is a "glitch" that needs to be credited for 3 months - which happens to line up with when the next price increase occur.

Joey doesnt turn on with TV
