UPDATE : Nevada Kills Proposed Sat Tax
There was a small victory for satellite TV interests fighting a proposed satellite TV tax in Nevada.
State lawmakers late last week killed Assembly Bill 151, sponsored by Assemblyman John Oceguera, a Democrat from Las Vegas. His proposed legislation would have taxed satellite TV customers 5 percent of their monthly bill, and proceeds from the levy would have gone to funding communications equipment for emergency responders.

The satellite TV tax initiative was killed in committee after it wasn't taken up for a mandatory vote. The bill also faced strong opposition from the executive branch, given that Nevada Gov. Kenny Guinn said he would have vetoed the bill.
