QAM Tuner in any recent D* boxes?
looking to use old D* receiver to get the HD signal from my Charter cable in BD downstairs for free. I have heard some D* tuners have/had QAM tuners and their signal is a unscrambled QAM sgignal.

I don't know of any D* boxes with QAM built in, but the LG 4200a has a QAM tuner. The LG 3200a is a D* box. I heard it has a QAM tuner in it that isn't activated. I emailed LG about it, but never heard anything from them.

I know we have all talked about this before but this is a huge issue that needs to be addressed with HD recievers. It is necessary regardless of copy write protection.

Someone needs to work out a solution.

I was not asking to break a law. The channels are just locals and I get free basic cable so i am not hacking anything.
