I just traded in my VIP222 for 2 VIP211's. The reason is I want HD in both rooms. I got an email from dish saying they are sending me a VIP211/VIP411. Does anyone know what this is?

the 211, 211k and 411 are all the same "family"

I didnt think the 411 was around still. Only difference between the 211k and 211 is the color (black vs. grey)

The 411 is just "411" not actually a part of the ViP series. Lacks an Ethernet port, IIRC.

And there's a ViP211z now also.

411 is not a ViP, true (did you know that the ViP stands for Video over Internet Protocol?)

However other than the lack of Ethernet port the 411 acts just the same as the 211.

IIRC, the 211k is also quite a bit smaller. Quite frankly the Ethernet port on the 211/k is not useful for anything but calling home to Dish. It won't do BB@home streaming, even though it probably could. So, the 411 should do quite nicely as a sub for the 211/k.
