Hello everyone I have a question about the Slimline dish. I have a neighbor that had the dish network but decided to go with OTA, they still has the dish I was wondering a couple of things
First from reading some of the posts on from Icebreg which said that this dish point to 99/101/103 was wondering if the 101W lnb happen to be a linear lnb I hate to see useful equipment not get used and besides they are retired on a fixed imcome I just thougth I can get them some true FTA form 101W for a minimun ammount of money.
My second question if it is a linear lnbf does the dish have a built in switch and how would I use a Fortec Lifetime Classic to get it going.
Thanks in advance for your help.

The slimline LNB's are junk for FTA for a few reasons
-101 is circular
-99 & 103 are KA (not KU but KA which is higher frequencies)
-they use a stacking system to combine it all together

you can fabricate something and put a KU LNB on there. The dish is big enough for the stronger signals out there but you do need to overhaul the LNB assembly

If I recall, we had a few members convert those to FTA usage.
Give a search, and limit to only the FTA department (but all sub departments)

The DirecTV birds are all circular.
101 LNB is Ku band, and the other two birds are Ka band (higher freq), so none are really useful.
I suspect the simple solution is to outfit the dish with one linear LNB and give it a go.

If I remember where I saw more about this conversion, I'll attach it to the bottom of this post.

If you have to build a bracket for the new LNB, see this discussion:

Once again thank you Iceberg and Anole you guys are very helpful I was hoping to that one of the lnb was a standard and I could give them my old Fortec Classic but seem like a lot more work still might try and get is going for them . If I do I will try and post pics and comments.
Regards
