I plan on calling DirecTV tomorrow to get the Genie Mini Wireless receiver for my 2nd room since the smartv rvu option totally sucks...its slow, it lags and the audio at times is out of sync when watching directv. That is the reason I am going with the Genie Mini Wireless, I hear some great reviews about the product.

Now it brings me to my question, will it extended my contract if I decide to buy the genie mini? I understand that I still have to pay $99 for the installation which is retarded because I can install it myself but there is no way around it.

Yes it will extend your contract. You can try to search for owned clients and a video bridge but good luck finding an owned client.

Do you currently have a Genie DVR?

If you do, I'd confirm whether or not adding a client (only) to your current setup would extend your contract.

If you don't, then yes, you'd definitely be upgrading with a new 2-year contract.
